Juno Beach

LOCATION

Juno Beach is a peaceful oceanfront community with a small town atmosphere and is located in North Palm Beach County, tucked neatly between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. The cutting of a pass from the Intracoastal Waterway to the ocean formed this barrier island. Juno Beach is ideal for vacation, retirement retreat or a permanent home. The small town triples its population of 3,262 during the winter months. Its proximity to U.S.1 gives residents easy access to nearby amenities.
County parks and beaches provide excellent recreational opportunities. From May to September each year, guides form the Marine Life Center of Juno Beach introduce newcomers to turtle watching as the sea turtles return to lay their eggs, with 1,000 nests per mile. Approximately 43% of the land in Juno Beach is either County Park land or environmentally sensitive lands (natural areas).

TRANSPORTATION

Palm Beach International Airport was voted third best in the US and sixth best in the world by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine -- March 2003 issue.

Tri-Rail is south Florida’s premier commuter railroad from Palm Beach to Miami it runs seven days a week in air-conditioned luxury.

It takes about 2 hours from Palm Beach to Miami International Airport.

BRIEF HISTORY

The first inhabitants of Juno Beach were the Native American tribes that settled there in 500 B.C. There are signs of European contact dating from sixteenth century A.D. During the Spanish Exploration of the 1500’s the first contact was made with the native inhabitants and the Spanish settled the area at that time. Many Spanish ships were wreaked along the coastline of Juno Beach and it is world renowned for the finding of valuable artifacts. The township of Juno Beach itself was formed in 1953 mainly by a group of motel and tourist trade businesspersons. The population was approximately 130 year round residents and 1500 seasonal population.

Late 1800's Juno was the predecessor of Juno Beach. It arose as a late nineteenth century transportation terminal linking northern Florida by the Indian River and Jupiter to Lake Worth in southern Florida. Juno was once the County Seat of what was 7200 square mile Dade County from 1890 to 1900.

1893 The Jupiter and Lake Worth Railway had taken over the hack line between Jupiter and Juno which became known as the "Celestial Railway." In the same year, Henry Flagler began development of Palm Beach which led to the demise of Juno and the Celestial Railway. The demise of nineteenth century Juno was followed by the rise of twentieth century Juno Beach.

1929 E.F. Hutton began construction of the famous Seminole Golf Club.

1933 Oscar and Huldah Erikson became the first people to reside and to establish a business in the area which became the northern part of Juno Beach.

1946 Bessemer Properties, Inc., bought a tract of land adjoining Seminole Golf Course and platted it as a subdivision in 1948. Bessemer dredged a pond and built a 500 foot fishing pier at the end of Mercury Way. The pond, ocean pier and subdivision improvements opened the Town for planned development.

1953 Town of Juno Beach incorporated. Residential development followed.

1958 The ladies of the Juno Beach Garden Club took on the project of naming the streets. Many of the streets bear names of gods and goddesses.

Late 1960's Condominiums begin developing.

1980 Significant residential and commercial development including The Waterford, a life care community, and Florida Power and Light administrative offices took place in the Town. This development provided different residential types and a healthy tax base.

1980 - 1990 Assessed valuation rose from $50 million to $400 million.

1991 Town Center completed, reflecting the spirit of the community for approximately 2000 year round residents and 6000 seasonal population.
Today Juno Beach is today a seaside community which is predominantly residential. Fine oceanfront estates, condominiums and businesses provide an ideal setting for vaction or permanent residence. Juno Beach is near many activities including the Jupiter Theatre, nationally-known golf courses, tennis courts, county parks, shopping centers and art galleries. With Juno Beach, activities range from sunbathing, swimming and fishing to walking, jogging and bicycling on my oceanfront bike path. The Marinelife Museum is located in Loggerhead Park. The town is governed by a five-member council with a Town Manager. Residents are protected by a 16 member police department. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue provides professional fire protection and paramedic services.

1999 Projected opening of Palm Beach County Pedestrian Pier.

Real Estate Tips
Financing Your Home >Early Loan Approval

Many lenders help prospective buyers get pre-approved for a mortgage loan before the buyers begin a serious house-hunting effort. If you are in this position, give the loan officer all of the information about your assets, income, and debts so they can tell you how much you will be able to borrow under the available loan options. The loan officer will do a credit check and work with the lender to straighten out any problems with your credit rating.

Pre-approval from a lender can make you more attractive to the seller when you find the home you want. Multiple offers sometimes come in on a house, and you may find yourself competing with other buyers. In that case, it is helpful if you have included a letter from the lender with your offer stating that you have an approved loan and are, indeed, qualified to buy. This will also save you time by eliminating from consideration any homes that you would not be able to afford.
